A Round Britain Adventure
S/y Svanevit – Around Britain and RoI 2008.
Well…why not? I’m sailing my boat around Britain and RoI, partly as I have the boat to do it , my Hallberg Rassy (Monsun- 31’) and mainly, because I can. What I mean, is that 20 years ago driving to visit friends in Wales, or up to Scotland, was an experience. Skiing in Italy was a major undertaking. I was on dialysis
Not one to waste an opportunity, after many thousands of sea miles, mainly abroad, I’m now taking my 20 year old ( I’m not, sadly) kidney transplant around the British Isles.
With full support from the *RNLI Sea Safety team, who I work with as a Sea Safety Advisor, I plan to take on extra crew from Lifeboat stations along the way. Their local knowledge will be invaluable, particularly timing the 12knot stream around Duncansby Head!
Therefore, I’m off around our varied shores to raise awareness for ‘sea safety’, as well as Organ Donation and Transplantation.
