Blew all the way down to Arran,Lamlash.Yes,down at last!F5/6 broad reach and average 6knots.
Arrived Lamlash.Motored for nealry and hour in F5 looking for my promised free mooring No.9 .from David Bone.M.B.E.Eventually, picked up V- buoy, then had rest, after which Richard and I thought we'd seen NO.9,motored over it was No.5!Picked up nearest buoy.
Decided not to see the Buddist colony as it was £9 return to island.Tried to wave down Buddhist ferry to take us ashore as there was no way we could do it in dinghy.Settled dwon for the night after early dinner.
Next day.Lovely day.had a lay in!Finally got the dinghy ashore after Richard tried to give me orders.
had tea and rocky (looked like pebble dash) cakes.Took bus to Brodick and walked to castle.Owned by the Duke of Hamilton ,who was responsible for the 'clearances'in 19C(kicking out the Scots).
Walked the beach and around the back of the castle, for a cup of tea at the top overlooking the bay.Sudden midge attack and we snuck out the front way.Richard once again fooled me into following him along the tidal myre (tide was out) and he nealry sank in the quicksand. He told me to walk quicker!Had to duck along the (one of 7)golf course.
had lovely dinner in bistro (Eden).Richard had Haggis bites, with sweet chilli sauce,Mary a jacket potato, and myself Cullen skink, though made the mistake of telling the chef it was nealry as good as mine.
Got the bus back to lamlash and joined in at the pub, attached to the Taj Mahal,Indian Restaurant, Folk session.Richard 'spontaneously',got up and played the 'Floral Dance'after announcing my odyssey. There were 9 players,1 fiddler,1 piper,1 drummer/singer ,5 guitarists,1 playing spoons and one playing the bones. What a Ceilidh!Apparently the women next to Richard were belly dancers.Time to leave,we couldn't see Holy island any more!
