Milford -Padstow

2/8 Slipped mooring and motored out towards buoyed entrance to Milford Haven, just a sea of flashing lights!Nick assisted in piloting us out and once past Tarbert Bank (no cash point here, just rock and sandbanks) we began a wondeful sail down past the Bristol Channel and towards Padstow. Pods of dolphins kept us entertained,as we took turns to sleep off watch during the day.2 miles off Padstow we motor sailed in and dropped the mainsail, just at the entrance to Doom Bar. Negotiated our way in ,multi-tasking on the way past hundreds of different vessels and beautiful scenery. Lovely welcome from Alan Tarby (coxwain and former crew on Svanevit)and Smithy (harbour hand and lifeboat 2nd mechanic). Suddenly, there were loads of people onboard and it felt really warm and homely.Alan's friends came onboard, including young Lucy, who I'm sure will be a famous and great sailor one day. Smithy- the mechanic also came down to look at the diesel leak,we changed the filter and discovered it was a copper washer that had thinned. Nick left the next day, then Andy Beach (yes,A.Beach!) arrived and called from Bodmin to say he'd missed the last bus, luckily Alan and his sons were onboard and he kindly offered to pick Andy up.So, I had a sightseeing trip into the bargain.Alan also brought some Tuna down (from his fishermen friends out of Biscay),which I cooked for dinner with samphire (from Rick Stein's -expensive deli)and boiled potatoes. (Must try and fatten up,as I'm quite thin.My sister said, 'it wasn't surprising (me losing weight)considering I'd been at sea for over two months'.Andy now trying to fatten me up.with his great breakfasts, designed á la Rick Stein. s/y Cari phoned, they're just on their way down to Glenarm (N.Ireland).They've met the young lad from Ramsgate going around single-handed. 3/8 Collected fuel, helped boats alongside move (Jazzical and Clydel). Alan picked us up and took us to their amazing lifeboat station.beautiful setting amongst shale cliffs and an azure sea, with pale yellow fine sand beach below. The station is a wonderful piece of engineering and architecture. All built on voluntary donations! Andy doing his exercises, good I like fit crew. Plan to deaprt for Newlyn tomorrow.SE 5/6 wind predicted
