Organising a Sail Around Britain and Ireland.
Crew: After making the decision to do this trip I had to organise crew. Though Svanevit sleeps three comfortably, four onboard on any one leg is the maximum, vis safety equipment. I now have a list of about 20 able bodied crew, plus a reserve list of 6 .
A mixture of RNLI people, Transplant recipients (my brother being one), friends and colleagues.
I’ve stipulated a minimum of Day Skipper skills, although enthusiasm, sense of humour, ability to work in a team and spatial ability are vital!
Most crew members are people I’ve sailed with already, or would love to sail with.

Equipment: upgrades (plotter, log/speed &trip) and maintenance (engine service: injectors overhaul and clean sails, rig checks) safety (e.g. new flares, crutch straps, anchor chain and mark,re-tape guard wire)
Costs:
· Food £30 per.week per person X 12 (weeks)= £360
· Marinas and Canals, harbour dues @ £15 per day x 42 £500
· Fuel: @50p per litre x 200 = £100
· Equipment & upgrades: Charts, pilots, chartplotter, log, cleaning, servicing, spares, anti-foul £1,000
· Haul out & launch £350
· Floating Fund: £500 (quickly disappearing as I pay out for things!)
· Emergencies:£500
Total: £3,500
Crew costs =£1,000 @ £10 per.day = £70 per. Week = £840
